Major search engine Yahoo has started testing its new product called Search Pad which is designed to aid you with research on the web and keep a list of what you’ve looked at. You can use this tool to save a list of websites, write notes on them and generally keep track of the research you have done.
With great features that allow you to keep track of your results and research, this product is likely to help Yahoo gain more users. Some of the more innovative features include the aspect that allows you to paste research from a website you previously visited, even if it wasn’t through Yahoo Search, which means that research on the web should now be a speedy process rather than a slow and confusing one. Yahoo Search Pad will also detect the source of your research, if it isn’t from Yahoo Search, and automatically add that website to your list so you can do more research at a later date.
The product is designed to detect when you are doing in depth research and it’ll automatically save information on your searches such as key terms and websites. The online application will ask you if you would like to save this information in an online document, which you can then update with notes and other resources. You can even manually add, delete and rearrange the websites you have seen before which relate to the subject you’re researching.
Larry Cornett, the vice president for products in Yahoo Search said, “It's our hope that the people doing research with Yahoo are able to be more effective. That may drive more engagement or drive them to come back more often”. Currently, Yahoo Search Pad is only available in test mode for selected Yahoo users, but Yahoo have said it will be widely available in the coming months.
