Website Usability addresses just this. If a website employs good usability, users will complete their task with satisfaction, not frustration. Users are more likely to stay on a usable website, convert into a customer and are more likely to return at a later date.
Usability is a massive topic in itself, but the smallest adjustments to certain pages on a website can have dramatic effects on conversions.
When a user arrives at a website for the first time they will begin to make immediate evaluations about that website - Is this a trustworthy website? Do they sell what I need? And so on.
Some simple questions you can ask yourself about your important landing pages could be:
Does your website have a clear strap line on every page to tell the user the purpose of your website?
Is the pricing prominent and transparent?
Are the products visible above the fold?
Is it easy for the user to navigate back to the homepage?
