Usability - Maximize Your Traffic & Revenue

Author: Sayu
With Christmas just around the corner and evidence suggesting that a substantial portion of UK consumers will be drawn to the Internet, now is a good time to make sure that your site is in tip top shape for maximizing revenue and repeat custom.

Website Usability addresses just this. If a website employs good usability, users will complete their task with satisfaction, not frustration. Users are more likely to stay on a usable website, convert into a customer and are more likely to return at a later date.

Usability is a massive topic in itself, but the smallest adjustments to certain pages on a website can have dramatic effects on conversions.

When a user arrives at a website for the first time they will begin to make immediate evaluations about that website - Is this a trustworthy website? Do they sell what I need? And so on.

Some simple questions you can ask yourself about your important landing pages could be:

Does your website have a clear strap line on every page to tell the user the purpose of your website?
Is the pricing prominent and transparent?
Are the products visible above the fold?
Is it easy for the user to navigate back to the homepage?

There are some great articles online that will be of interest. In fact this article was spurred on by e-consultancy's recent site review of Figleaves.com. Definitely worth a read!
